SWOOPGP COSTUME CONTEST

Contest Judge: Rei Kennex
“Originally from Ukraine, Rei Kennex is an LA-based actor/singer/cosplayer. She has been immersed into LA's creative scene for the last few years and is known for bringing to life characters from "Blade Runner" and "Star Wars", namely, Ahsoka Tano. As a model for Ahsoka, she has appeared on several official Star Wars artworks, including San Diego Comic Con and Star Wars Celebration. In addition to cosplay, Rei portrays Ahsoka in film projects that she co-creates with her team. With three Masters degrees, immense love for animals and passion for creativity, Rei uses her artistic voice as a tool to add a little extra color to the world.”



COSTUME CONTEST RULES & NOTES
All participants must have a SwoopGP admission ticket.
Registration will be on-site 1 hour prior to the contest at the main stage. Registration waivers may also be downloaded, printed and filled out ahead of time and brought to the contest the day of.
Entries may be by individuals or groups. Please note that groups that enter the contest will be judged as if the entire group were 1 entry.
There will be a max number of 50 entries, and will be first come first serve.
All costumes must abide by the rules of the SwoopGP dress code and weapons policy. All costumes should provide enough coverage to be worn in public and should be in good taste and appropriate for a family-friendly show.
No profanity will be allowed on stage. That includes messages on signs or clothes. Violators will be removed from the competition.
There will also be no use of the mic by contestants.
Each participant will have 30 seconds of time to strike a pose or two on stage. As this is a first year event, we are not allowing “skits” so strike a good pose or two. This is your time to shine, so make the best of it.
If a policy violation is discovered by any of the SwoopGP staff or judging panel, that entry will be disqualified.
No glitter, confetti, pyrotechnics, live flame or smoke generators of any kind are allowed.
No electrical power connections will be provided. If your costume requires power, it must be part of your costume.
Youth entrants will go on stage first, in their own category.
Youth entries are those who are 12 years of age and younger.
You must remain near the stage for the entirety of the contest. Please listen to the directions given by the SwoopGP staff and volunteers and be respectful to your fellow contestants. If you have special needs, please let any of the staff or volunteers know.
When each contestant/group checks in, they will be asked to write an “introduction” including your name(s) and the character(s) you are cosplaying. This is not mandatory but highly suggested to help our hosts introduce you.

The following list is an example breakdown of the awards that may be awarded. However, at the judge’s discretion they may choose to omit or add to the awards as they deem appropriate for the entries received.
